THIS IS A STILL from a Studex piercing video on YT - yes that’s right there is apparently no issue piercing the cartilage with their “system 75”

Disgusting. That anyone thinks this is acceptable is just… sickening.

HAHAHAHA what
I flagged it.

umm idk shit about piercings. why is this bad??

Piercings need to be performed with pre-packaged, sterilized piercing needles which are incredibly sharp and hollow. The kind of earring put into a piercing gun is blunt and the trauma causes more scar tissue to build up around your piercing. Piercings should always have titanium or surgical grade stainless steel jewelry in them when they’re fresh, and the kind of earrings loaded into piercing guns are usually either gold or silver.
Piercing guns also have more of a tendency to not be sterilized. They’re made from plastic, not metal, and plastic can’t be put into an autoclave (a machine which sterilizes piercing materials/anything metal). People who use piercing guns are also not trained professionals. They practice piercing on teddy bears before they pierce people.
There are tons of other reasons… But those are just the most general ones I can think of off the top of my head. Basically, spend the money to go to a professional.

then why would anyone use the prepackaged things? O.o

Because places like Claire’s, Piercing Pagoda, and lots of other jewelry stores can buy them and get more money by piercing people who are too stupid/uninformed/lazy to go to a professional piercing parlor.
